MLI Donates to Serve Moses Lake

Feb 11, 2021

Moses Lake – With a name like Great Place to Work Committee, it is no wonder that Moses lake Industries (MLI) loves Moses Lake, and loves to give back to our community. Before Christmas, the Great Place to Work Committee was interested in participating in service projects, Dennis Draleau, Jr. Commodity Manger, contacted Serve Moses Lake (SML) to see if they had any projects MLI could assist with.

SML helps low-income families avoid eviction while also working closely with the homeless community. SML’s mission is completed by supporting families and individual with goods and services, such as rent and utilities, during financial hardships.   SML partners with local churches, using benevolence funds to help families who need it most.

SML suggested two projects, putting together 750 male and female hygiene packets to serve the homeless and helping with a mass mailing for donation requests. Although these projects were a great opportunity, MLI management was uncomfortable placing their employees in a situation where they could contract COVID-19. Instead Draleau suggested MLI provide a donation which would greatly help SML complete their mission.

“Moses Lake Industries blessed our ministry with their $5,000 gift, which will go a long way in helping people avoid the streets,” wrote Brandon LaBonte, executive director. “Nonetheless, what a fantastic experience to meet the individuals of this company that provided resources to support Serve Moses Lake projects and our operation.” LaBonte is pictured with Hiro Era, President of MLI, and Brent Hansen, VP of Operations.
